Yalda or night dog is one of the oldest Iranian celebrations. The celebration, during the longest night of the year, followed by longer length of time in the northern hemisphere, which coincides with the winter solstice is celebrated.
Yalda to the time between sunset than 30 Azar (last fall) until sunrise on May Day (the first day of winter) is called. Iranian families at the winter solstice, usually fine dinner and also provides a variety of fruit and watermelon and most commonly spend together. Having spent eating, telling older ones for other family members and also with Hafez divination is common.
